McCallums Foods is a true family business run by Chris McCallum as the Managing Director with over 30 years industry experience as a butcher and a retailer. He is supported by a Factory Manager, Ian Telford as well as a number of highly skilled butchers working on the production line making our products.

All of our employees working in the production area are regularly trained and all possess at least Elementary level food hygiene certification. A skilled administration team work in an on-site office providing secretarial support and high levels of service to our valued customers.

Our History


McCallums Foods started life in a former butcher's shop in Prestwick back in 1997, producing quality, traditional sausage products for supply to our own stores and other local shops.McCallums soon outgrew these premises thanks to increased demand in Ayrshire for our quality butcher-style products. In 2001 we invested heavily in the business and expanded into 4000sq ft custom-built premises, incorporating a state-of-the-art production and packaging line. This then allowed us to vastly increase our volume and production capacity to meet demand.

Today, McCallums Foods are a SALSA approved supplier to Spar convenience stores across Scotland as well as the wider Scottish convenience retail sector. They offer a range of chilled sausage products and other chilled lines including haggis, burgers and black pudding. Most recently we have added a selection of ready-to-eat cooked meats to our range.McCallums Foods are proud to be a producer of premium Scottish produce and our continued growth and expansion means that consumers all over Scotland can now experience a true taste of Ayrshire!

The Factory


Located at Heathfield in Ayr, our factory is a modern state-of-the-art facility, however, we still use the same traditional tried and tested production methods to create the same type of premium quality sausage that you will find at farmers' markets and in local butcher stores across Scotland.We have taken many measures to evaluate risks and take steps to meet the highest of food safety standards. We are an approved and licensed facility overseen by our local environmental health authority as required under EU law.
